Documentary & Commercial Photographer

I am a documentary photographer who specializes in capturing the human condition with an informed lens. I offer a range of photography services for promotional, commercial, and reporting purposes, and my work is ideally suited for organizations, companies, and individuals who want to tell authentic stories.

My visual expertise and services include:

• Commercial Photography: I excel in product photography in a controlled studio environment. I also offer headshots, and I specialize in capturing human ingenuity and creativity, from food and artworks to live performances.

• Portraiture: I bring a documentary approach to my portraiture. I enjoy creating meaningful and natural images that capture the unique personality of each subject. I excel at building trust, enabling more authentic imagery.

• Archival & Cultural Projects: I work with organizations and individuals to document their work over time, creating comprehensive digital libraries and archives for long-term use. This includes portfolios and cultural and social commentary projects that preserve how we express our time in history.

Additional Services & Skills

My interdisciplinary approach allows me to offer more than just photography. I am an image-maker and storyteller who can manage the entire creative process from concept to final product.

• Visual Arts Practice: My personal arts practice includes a passion for analog printing in silver, cyanotype, and other experimental mediums like indigo dye and batik. I explore thematic concepts for larger bodies of work and installations, creating images with film, digitally, and through AI platforms.

• Creative Production: I produce digital libraries and short films, and offer editing and editorial services for multiple types of publications. I can also oversee digital and analog printing, book design, and exhibitions.

• Design & Communication: I have over 20 years of experience with design and layout, with a high proficiency in the Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere). I have also been leveraging social media platforms since their inception for both my personal and professional use.

Credentials

With over two decades of experience, I am a classically trained photographer with a 2-year diploma and years of apprenticeship. My work has been widely published, exhibited, and collected by libraries, museums, and private acquisitions, and is registered in the Library of Congress. I have curated or been featured in over 20 exhibitions in Canada and the Netherlands and have studied image-transfer and dyeing techniques in Java, Indonesia.

With close to two decades of experience in policy and project management, I am an interdisciplinary consultant who specializes in supporting organizations and individuals through research, analysis, and strategic communication. I excel at transforming complex data and findings into clear, impactful reports and recommendations. My work is informed by my collaborative spirit and a passion for partnering with organizations focused on socio-economic equity and community development. My academic and professional credentials provide a strong foundation for my work:

• Master's Degree in International Development Studies: My research explored the implications of commodifying culture for tourism and export markets. My published thesis was awarded an Emerald Publishing Literati award and has been cited over 40 times.

• Bachelor's Degree in Communications: I have a background grounded in cultural policy, communications theory, and audio/visual practices.

• Certifications: I have public service training in gender-based analysis (GBA+) and hold an Indigenous Canada certification from the University of Alberta.
