Airbnb’s global search for 100 home cooks aimed to unlock the hidden culinary traditions of families around the world and enable a new way to understand culture through food. Nominees subitted essays and short films about their culture and recipes they wished to perfect alongside chef David Chang, his mom, and experts in Italy, to culminate into a first-of-its-kind international cookbook. I’m not sure how I won as one of 100 out of over 20,000 global nominees… But even though this incredible experience was cancelled due to COVID-19, it flamed my deeper passion to look at food and share the food experience in a deeper way.
