CURRENT PROJECTS
Bear Witness
This project chronicles the artistry of carver Bear Horne, a pioneer of Coast Salish tradition who transforms cedar into a testament to his family's legacy and a beacon for reconciliation.
Rooted in a shared connection to the land of the Tsawout (SȾÁUTW̱) Nation, this is a living document currently underway. What began in January 2025 as a simple catalogue of Bear’s work has evolved into a deeper reflection on his artistry and its transformative impact on community.
This book will be a vital record of this pivotal, mid-career stage, documenting his journey toward becoming a master carver like his father, Douglas LaFortune.
